MIKE
STALTER
Inexperienced. Irresponsible.
Cozying up to Anti-ICE Radicals.
Backed By Democrats.
Dangerous For Otsego County.
POLITICS OVER PUBLIC SAFETY
Mike Stalter has pledged to immediately cut off Sheriff Department cooperation with ICE and the Department of Homeland Security, as reported in AllOtsego.
Because of this, he is wholely backed by Democrats and the most anti-Cop radicals in our community.
Statements and positions taken by Stalter raise concerns about whether he is willing to work collaboratively with outside agencies when necessary to protect the community.
Public safety cannot be driven by personal politics.

HISTORY OF ETHICAL AND POLICY ABUSE
Sheriffs are entrusted with enormous authority and discretion.
Voters deserve confidence that the individual holding that office consistently exercises sound judgment, follows established procedures, and places professionalism above personal interests.
A pattern of incidents and decisions throughout Stalter's career raises legitimate concerns about whether he possesses the judgment required to lead the agency.
Examples include:
• Questions surrounding adherence to reporting and documentation requirements.
• Questions regarding proper use of departmental resources and equipment.
• Questions regarding decision-making while off duty.
• Questions regarding compliance with agency policies and procedures.

QUESTIONS OF PERSONAL RESPONSIBILTY?
One of the most pressing issues facing Otsego County is the future of the county jail.
The New York State Commission of Correction has dramatically reduced the operational capacity of the jail due to aging infrastructure and facility concerns. The Sheriff's Office must balance public safety, inmate housing, transportation costs, staffing shortages, and state mandates.
Stalter has repeatedly suggested simplistic solutions that fail to address the reality of the situation. Simply "boarding out" inmates is expensive, logistically challenging, and can reduce local control over inmates and operations.
The next Sheriff must have a realistic plan. Wishful thinking is not a strategy.

QUESTIONS OF PERSONAL RESPONSIBILTY?
Leadership begins with personal responsibility.
When voters evaluate a candidate for Sheriff, they have every right to ask whether that candidate demonstrates the judgment, accountability, and responsibility expected of the county's chief law enforcement officer. Especially overseeing a budget of over $160 million.
The Sheriff must serve as a role model for every deputy, correction officer, and civilian employee in the department.
Otsego County deserves a Sheriff whose record reflects the highest standards of responsibility and professionalism.
